Who is Amal?

The folded hands of the Sri Lankans which look like a protecting roof I welcome you with all warmth.

I have been working in the hotel and travel trade for over 20 good years, as hotel manager, mentor and adventure tour guide. Let me guide and immerse you in to a world full of wonders and legends, the smell of incense and Ayurvedic healing wisdom. Discover elephants, birds as well as hidden temples deep in the mysterious jungle with us. Take a deep breath of spices and fruit. Climb up to the clouds and the Horton Plains or the end of the world. I could arrange for any sort of tour which excites you in exploring tropical paradise, my country, Sri Lanka.

I have been travelling to Europe since 1994 also participating adventure tour programmes in Belgium from time to time. Thus I have a better understanding and experience in relating and arranging your tour programs.

Mr. Amal is a great tour guide, he actually wasn’t just a tour guide, I honestly admit he was just like a brother to me. Honest, kind, professional, and caring. I recommend no one but him

Dear Amal,

We thank you for your perfect organized trip we had last august in Sri Lanka.

Starting from your home-town Bentota, to the Elephants Orphanage, the rock-temples in Dambulla and the rock of Sigiriya we went on to the Polonnaruwa Lake with its World Heritage temples. We got really into Sri Lanka with its spirit of Budha, touching daily bare-foots visiting the temples.

The smiling and overwhelming kindness of its people, ..it all started to take part of us.

Heading south to the hypnotizing rhythms and colors of Kandy (and its enormously Botanic Garden),the miracles of herbs and plants of the ayurvedic medicines (Isiwara village) passing by the tea-fields (Blue Field Tea factory) we woke up early next day to visit the Horton Plains National Park (World’s End). With its own climate it’s worth to visit as the environment and nature are completely different. At Ohiya we took the train to Ella (after the Horton Plains) but first an exquisite dinner at ‘Indika Lanka’ a very local, tipical family-managed eat-location . You can’t miss the train-trip, it’s a part of the way of life here. Arriving in Ella we tried after tea-shopping as suggested by the guide, the Mojito at the Chill cafè , just to reset a bit of all the curry in our veins! ‘A room with a view’ won’t let you disappointed at the Ella Gap Panorama Hotel… well done Amal!

During all these 11 days different kinds of fruits, foods and drinks were tasted from spicy to hottest, from sweet to acid, from earth to whatever! At any-time you can stop the van for a picture or to try something new: flexibility!

Leaving next day the height’s we got warmer getting closer to the Yala National Park where Amal got us into the jeep straight to the lodge surrounded by wild animals like crocodiles, monkeys, spiders, different bird- species, buffalo’s, peacock’s and wild boars. Excellent food again on the ‘lodge without windows’ ,only mosquito nets above your bed…, we slept well anyway! Of course we’ve seen during the safari next day elephants too but not the leopard , he’s too skittish to show up.
Doing so much with so many new items to absorb we forgot to mention our visit the afternoon before the safari: the Tissamaharama Chaitya. It’s a Budha temple on a rock where we received a ‘benediction’ from two older ladies coming down from the hand-excavated stairs of the temple-rock. They were singing together in their language touching our heads sending their message of prosperity and wellness to us.

This happens in Sri Lanka.

Last but not least, on our way back to Bentota we visited Galle a dutch bastion from the 17th century. Colonial houses, soft colors, surprising shops, a small world on its own in Sri Lanka. The last day we decided to ‘relax’ on the beautiful beaches of Bentota. Plenty of waves in this period and the kids were busy all day ‘riding as much as possible’ like real surfers.

Amal and his driver Harsha lead us savely through the traffic, habits, smells, colors and taste and all what Sri Lanka offers. Thanks to Amal ,his wife and Harsha…, we keep on dreaming!

I went with Amal on a 2 days trip by motorbike in the jungle. It was a wonderful experience.

Amal shows you a very beautiful nature rivers, where you can take a bath and swim, animals like snakes, Warans , birds and plants and flowers. Monasteries where you have to walk, bridges you have to cross. He shows you a dream world where tourist not go, and he cares for you in a very good and correct way.

You will get back from a tour with him very happy and safe.
Amal is a man you can trust in every way.

I was feeling very happy after the tour.

Thank you Amal.
